Truth and
Knowledge Center Welcomes UN Security Council Sanctions Designations Concerning
Sudan
The Truth and Knowledge Center welcomes the decision
adopted on 24 February 2026 by the Sanctions Committee established pursuant to
United Nations Security Council Resolution 1591 concerning Sudan, under the
authority of the United Nations Security Council and acting under Chapter VII
of the UN Charter.
The Committee approved the listing of four individuals
affiliated with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), namely:
Abdul Rahim Hamdan Dagalo, Deputy Leader of the RSF;
Gedo Hamdan Ahmed (Abu Nashuk), Commander of the North
Darfur sector of the RSF;
Al-Fateh Abdullah Idris (Abu Lulu), Brigadier General
of the RSF;
Tijani Ibrahim Moussa Mohamed (Al Zeir Salem), Field
Commander of the RSF.
The Center considers this action a significant step
toward international accountability and a clear acknowledgment by the
international community of the grave violations committed in Darfur and other
parts of Sudan, which may amount to war crimes and crimes against humanity.
The enforcement of targeted sanctions, including asset
freezes and travel bans, represents an essential legal mechanism to combat
impunity and deter further violations of international humanitarian law and
international human rights law.
The Truth and Knowledge Center calls upon:
All Member States to strictly implement the Security
Council’s measures;
The expansion of international investigations into
serious crimes committed in Sudan.
Full cooperation with the International Criminal
Court;
Immediate protection of civilians and unimpeded
humanitarian access.
The Center reaffirms its commitment to documenting
grave violations in Sudan and advocating for justice, accountability, and the
protection of civilians.
