Global Crises the World Cannot Ignore in 2026

A Statement in Support of the International Rescue Committee (IRC)

The Center of Truth and Knowledge expresses its full support and deep appreciation for the International Rescue Committee (IRC) and its 2026 Emergency Watchlist, which accurately identifies the world’s most severe and neglected humanitarian crises. We commend the IRC for its principled, life-saving work and urge the international community to increase financial and political support for its mission.

10. Lebanon

Lebanon faces a dangerous convergence of conflict risk, economic collapse, and institutional failure. Renewed hostilities and mass poverty threaten millions, including one of the world’s largest refugee populations. Humanitarian assistance is essential to prevent further societal collapse.

9. Burkina Faso

Escalating violence by extremist armed groups has trapped civilians, cut off aid, and destroyed basic services. Climate shocks and blockades deepen suffering, making international humanitarian access and protection a moral imperative.

8. Mali

The expansion of armed groups and attacks on vital supply routes are driving hunger, displacement, and insecurity. Women and children face particular risks amid shrinking humanitarian space and severe funding shortfalls.

7. Democratic Republic of the Congo

Prolonged conflict fueled by the exploitation of natural resources continues to devastate civilians. Hunger, disease outbreaks, and attacks on aid workers demand urgent, sustained international engagement.

6. Myanmar

Years of military conflict, compounded by natural disasters, have left millions without protection or assistance. Severe funding gaps and access restrictions threaten the survival of the most vulnerable communities.

5. Haiti

Gang violence, state collapse, and extreme hunger have reached catastrophic levels. Civilians, especially women and children, face widespread abuse, displacement, and neglect amid one of the world’s most underfunded crises.

4. Ethiopia

Rising political tensions, armed conflict, and climate shocks threaten to unravel fragile peace efforts. Massive aid cuts risk plunging millions deeper into hunger, disease, and displacement.

3. South Sudan

The risk of renewed civil war, combined with flooding and economic collapse, has created one of the world’s gravest hunger emergencies. Continued humanitarian assistance is vital to avert mass loss of life.

2. Occupied Palestinian Territory

The destruction of Gaza and escalating violence in the West Bank have erased the basic conditions for human survival. Hunger, disease, and displacement on an unprecedented scale demand immediate global action.

1. Sudan

Sudan remains the world’s worst humanitarian crisis. Ongoing civil war, mass atrocities, famine, and deliberate obstruction of aid constitute grave violations of international humanitarian and human rights law.

Our Call to Action

The Center of Truth and Knowledge strongly supports the International Rescue Committee and its frontline humanitarian work. We urge governments, institutions, and individuals worldwide to donate generously to the IRC, protect humanitarian space, and uphold international law to save lives and restore human dignity.
