Transparency International’s importance for Africa and the world:
Alkrty – Human Rights Activist
Transparency International is not just another organization – it is a global movement of justice working in more than 100 countries to end the injustice of corruption. Corruption destroys lives, fuels poverty, weakens democracy, and robs nations of their future. This is why I, as a human rights activist, strongly support Transparency International and call on all African nations to do the same.
Why Transparency International Matters
This movement focuses on the most urgent issues affecting people’s daily lives. It exposes the hidden systems and networks that allow corruption to thrive and holds the powerful to account for the common good. Through research, advocacy, and campaigns, it pushes governments, businesses, and global institutions to embrace transparency and integrity.
Mission I Endorse
Its mission is simple but powerful: to stop corruption and to promote transparency, accountability, and integrity across all levels of society.
Vision I Share
The vision is a world where governments, politics, business, civil society, and people’s daily lives are free of corruption – a world where resources are used for schools, hospitals, and opportunities, not stolen for the luxury of the few.
Campaigns That Change the World
Transparency International runs global campaigns to dismantle corruption:
-
G20: Take action on corruption – pushing the world’s biggest economies to make anti-corruption a priority.
-
Ending golden passports and visas in the EU – ensuring that corrupt elites cannot buy safe havens while their people suffer.
-
Countering Russia’s kleptocrats – exposing how stolen wealth funds tyranny and injustice.
-
Reforming beneficial ownership laws – making sure every country keeps a record of who truly owns and benefits from companies, cutting off corruption at its root.
These campaigns are proof that corruption is a global crime requiring global solutions.
Why Africa Must Support This Movement
In Africa, corruption is not just an abstract problem – it is the very barrier between our people and their right to dignity, equality, and development. Corruption steals billions from African nations every year, money that should go to healthcare, clean water, education, jobs, and justice.
I call on all African governments, civil societies, and communities to stand with Transparency International, not only as a partner but as a shield for our continent’s future. By supporting this movement, Africa can:
-
End the looting of national resources.
-
Protect our youth from a cycle of poverty and injustice.
-
Demand accountability from leaders and elites.
-
Build stronger, more just societies.
My Call to Action
Corruption is a form of violence – it kills hope, destroys trust, and fuels oppression. Transparency International provides the tools and the global voice to fight this injustice. I urge every African state, and every citizen who believes in justice, to support this organization and join hands in the global struggle to end corruption.
Together, we can reclaim our resources, protect our people, and build a future where integrity, transparency, and justice prevail.
