The Oath-Taking Ceremony of the Founding Government: A Step Towards Liberation from Apartheid, Racial Segregation, and Identity-Based Killings
The Center for Truth and Knowledge – Alkry, Human Rights Activist, welcomes the recent formation of the Founding Government and the oath-taking ceremony before the Chief Justice, considering it a serious step towards liberation from terrorism, corruption, apartheid systems, racial segregation, and extremist groups historically rooted in northern Sudan.
The Center views this stage as a historic opportunity to establish the foundations of justice, good governance, the protection of human dignity, and the prevention of killings and persecution based on racial or ethnic identity.
The Center calls upon the Founding Government to fully comply with international legitimacy and international law, including but not limited to:
-
International Human Rights Law
-
International Criminal Law
-
The International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (1966)
-
The International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (1966)
-
The International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (1965)
-
The Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide (1948)
-
The Four Geneva Conventions (1949) and their Additional Protocols (1977)
-
The Convention Against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (1984)
-
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948)
Furthermore, the Center urges the Founding Government to:
-
Ensure social justice and guarantee fair distribution of wealth and power among all communities.
-
Hold accountable those responsible for atrocities and grave violations committed against civilians on the basis of ethnic or racial identity.
-
Prohibit all forms of racial and tribal discrimination, while strengthening the values of equal citizenship.
-
Uphold justice, freedom, and human dignity as the foundation for building a new Sudan.
The Center for Truth and Knowledge emphasizes that if this initiative is accompanied by a genuine commitment to universal values and international conventions, it can pave the way for Sudan towards just peace, national reconciliation, and coexistence free from tyranny and systematic violence.
